The Golden State Warriors are 1-1 in the NBA preseason. After last year’s postseason run, the team returns upgraded and with a deep roster. Bay Area fans have many reasons to be excited about the Warriors and the shrewd sports books are taking the team seriously as well.

According to Bovada, the Warriors have the ninth-best odds to win the 2014 NBA Championship, the fifth-best odds to win the Western Conference and the second-best odds to win the Pacific Division.

The oddsmakers are far from always correct, but they make a living on their rankings and it is interesting to see where they stand.

Seeking a second opinion? CSNBayArea.com’s new Warriors Insider Monte Poole thinks the Warriors’ roster depth could rival that of the group that won the NBA Championship in 1975.

Poole writes:

The Warriors actually have a wealth of functional parts, most of which come with considerable experience and all of which are in a variety of sizes. To begin with, one wing with All-Star potential – either Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes – is likely to open the season coming off the bench. The other wing option, veteran Andre Iguodala, acquired in the offseason, is a certified All-Star. Such riches are foreign to a franchise that went 16 years (1997-2013) between representatives in the All-Star Game.
